Women romp, 241-44

<r Day, eight members of the class of 2011 competed in their final full home meet and helped lead the Carleton College women's swimming and diving team to a 241-44 victory over visiting Saint Mary's University. Sydney Weydemeyer '13 won both diving competitions, and classmate Anna Gallagher took top honors in the 200-yard butterfly.

The Knights came out on top in 15 of the days 16 events. Prior to the start of racing, the Knights recognized the eight seniors on the team: Louise Buckler, Eleonore Dixon-Roche, Ellen Esch, Gallagher, Erin Heydinger, Hannah Nerenhausen, Weydemeyer, and Kale Zicafoose.

Zicafoose was once again a multi-event victor, prevailing in the 100- and 200-yard backstroke as well as swimming the leadoff portion of the 400-yard medley relay.

Grace Cormier ’14 took top honors in the 100-yard breaststroke and 100-yard butterfly.

The other individual event winners for Carleton were: Micaela Hahn ’14 in the 1,650 freestyle, Molly Spence ’13 in the 200 freestyle, Sophie Pilhofer ’13 in the 50 freestyle, Milana Socha ’13 in the 100 freestyle, Hannah Heavenrich ’12 in the 500 freestyle, and Annie Metcalf ’12 in the 400 individual medley.

The Knights next compete at St. Olaf College on Saturday, Jan. 29.season.
