XC: Running of the Cows

<s a wonderful day for Carleton Cross-Country this past Saturday. On this sunny, 45-degree morning, Carleton cross-country members of the past and present stepped on the line. This year’s annual Running of the Cows meet brought together Carleton’s current and alumni runners to run and be merry.

In regards to the team’s current members, both the Women’s and Men’s team finished first out of five teams. On the women’s team, Simone Childs-Walker ’12 won her second straight race and recorded her fourth top 10 finish of the season. Overall, the women placed 5 runners among the top eight finishers. Carleton’s Laura Roach ’10. Karen Campbell ’09, Taylor Fitch ’12 and Alison Smyth ’12 finished fifth through eighth respectively. Carleton won with 27 points, followed by Whitman College (58), Winona State (68), Cornell (94) and Augsburg (125).

The Knights will take a break from competition next week as they gear up for the MIAC Championships on November 2. The Knights’ race begins at 3:00 pm at Como Park in St. Paul.
