<ong>LEAD JUDGE: Steven Poskanzer, President, is a longtime indiscriminate consumer of movies, especially those shown between 1:00 and 3:00 a.m. on any television station. His sterling qualifications as a judge include having had participated in his family’s Oscar Pool for the last 20 years–and never winning. He is therefore eager to be on the deciding end of this cinema contest. He believes the defining film of all time is “The Godfather”—Parts I and II only—and will use this as a standard in his assessments for the Golden Schillers.
Lew Weinberg, Media Technologies Specialist and Team Lead, has an extensive background in television production and postproduction. Weinberg enjoys movies, art, new media, old media, literature, history, travel, and felines.
Fiona MacNeill, Academic Technologist, worked at The Soap Factory art gallery in Minneapolis for three years prior to becoming an Academic Technologist at Carleton. She is a practicing Performance and New Media artist and has exhibited her work in the United States and Europe. Her practice also encompasses curatorial work as the founder and lead curator of Performance and New Media event, Artery 24 (now entitled Artery). Fiona has freelanced for commercial and non-profit clients, creating a variety of materials including: websites, catalogs, print, video and audio. Fiona will shortly be seen in women in prison drama, FEMININE VENOM, directed by Jeremey Catterton.
Eric Tretbar, visiting instructor in Cinema and Media Studies and Independent filmmaker, teaches screenwriting, fiction, and non-fiction video production in Carleton’s CAMS department. His next feature film is Pride and Prejudice on motorcycles.
Heidi Jaynes, Professor in the Physical Education, Athletics and Recreation Department, has been editing and producing sports highlight and family videos in Final Cut Pro and iMovie for 15 years. Watching movies is one of her favorite hobbies and she is VERY thankful for Netflix!
Jack Frechette, ’11, Religion Major, is originally from Boston, MA. He is an editor for the Carleton Literary Association Paper and an avid film fan. His favorite director is the renowned auteur Terrence Malick, but has also recently developed new allegiances in Eric Tretbar’s course on Ingmar Bergman and Jean-Luc Godard. Jack is excited to take part in his first experience as a Golden Schillers judge, and cannot wait to see what Carleton’s finest will produce.
Eli Robiner, ’14, is a self-proclaimed film dilettante who has written movie reviews for his high school newspaper and visits the theater well over a dozen times each year. He particularly enjoys documentaries and independent cinema.
