Women’s Track and Field
The Knights finished 13th at the highly-competitive Mark Schuck Open on Feb. 1. The Open, composed of mostly Division I and Division II teams saw Carleton’s Division III team total eight top-20 finishes. Libby Rowland ’25 finished 7th in the 1,000-meter run and 8th in the mile. Kayla Marx ’28 finished right behind Libby at 10th place in the 1,000-meter run and 9th in the mile. Nora Daley ’27 also finished 8th in the 1,000, while Lara Erickson ’25 and Celia Silverstein ’26 finished 4th and 6th in the 600-meter run. Charlotte Kusch ’28 rounded out the Knights and finished 7th in the 400-meter dash.
Men’s Track and Field
The Knights finished 12th at the mostly Division I and Division II Mark Schunk Open on Feb. 1, highlighted by eleven top-20 results. Gabe Nichols ’26 put himself at second on Carleton’s all-time list by finishing as the runner-up in the 1,000-meter run, running 2:28.2. Josh Meier ’25 finished 8th in the 600-meter run and 4th in the mile, Emerson Lange ’27 finished 13th in the 800-meter run, Daniel Schneider ’28 and Asher Nathan ’27 placed 16th and 19th in the 400-meter dash, and Travis Brown ’28, Ravi Achar ’28, and Nathaniel Malchow ’27 finished 10th, 13th and 20th in the mile respectively. Torte Tortensen ’27 and Ryan Bernstein ’26 finished in 8th and 10th place in the 5,000-meter event.
Women’s Swimming and Diving
The Knights brought home a strong 157-137 win over St. Olaf at home on Feb. 1, highlighted by Nina Schwab ’28’s two school diving records. Schwab won the one-meter and three-meter six-dive competitions, scoring 291.25 points and 329.25 points for school and pool records. This feat earned her sixth career MIAC Athlete of the Week award. Hailey Westrup ’27 finished second in both competitions. Stephanie Baranov ’27 won the 1,000-yard freestyle, Emma Yao ’27 won the 50-yard breaststroke, Daya Tucker ’27 won the 50-yard freestyle, Zoe Morton ’27 won the 100-yard freestyle and Aubrey Tran ’27 won the 200-yard breaststroke. The 200-yard freestyle relay won to end the meet. To round this out, the Knights earned the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America Scholar All-America Team Award for the 28th straight season.
Men’s Swimming and Diving
The Knights brought home a major win over St. Olaf 201-91 at home on Feb. 1. Hans Anderson ’27 won the 1-meter and 3-meter events with personal best scores, Matthew Krogman ’27 won the 1,000-yard freestyle, Ethan Tun ’25 won the 50-yard backstroke and the 200-yard breaststroke, Alex Yee ’27 and Noah Lee ’27 tied to win the 50-yard breaststroke, Aiden Johnson ’27 won the 200-yard butterfly, Aaron Zhao ’28 won the 200-yard backstroke, Jackson Rankin ’27 won the 50-yard butterfly, John Rosseel ’27 won the 400-yard IM, and the 200-yard freestyle relay won to cap off the meet. Similar to the women, the men earned the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America Scholar All-America Team Award for the 28th straight season.
Women’s Basketball
The Knights came home with three losses over the week. On Jan. 29, the Knights battled the College of St. Scholastica. Though Addy Huss ’28 scored 16 points and 10 rebounds for her third career double-double, the Knights lost 47-72. On Feb. 1, Audrey Whitney ’28 scored 20 points in a close 60-65 loss to the College of St. Benedict. The Knights performed excellently against No. 24 Bethel University (who are undefeated in the conference), losing 52-67 on Feb. 5. Whitney led the team with 16 points, tying with a Bethel player for the game-high. On Feb. 5, the Knight played the undefeated Bethel University, but lost 52-67. Whitney led the team with 16 points, tying with a Bethel player for the most points in the game.
Men’s Basketball
In the past week, the Knights had two wins and a loss. On Jan. 29, the Knights took downt the College of St. Scholastica 85-67. Tobias Averill ’28 scored 16 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double, a rare feat in NCAA DIII basketball. The Knights went on to face the No. 12 ranked St. John’s College on Feb. 1. Though Luke Harris ’25 came in strong, leading the team in a game-high 26 points, the Knights fell to the Johnnies 74-90. The Knights then went to Bethel University on Feb. 5 where Sam Koelling ’27’s game-high 26 points led the team to victory 77-62 against the Royals.
Men’s Tennis
The Knights beat Central College seven-zero on Feb. 1, the team’s third-straight win. Baiyun Jing ’27, Zach Leslie ’26 and Jasper Yang ’27 won in both singles and doubles, with Ezra Bernhard ’28 winning in doubles, and Aiden Patel ’28, Andrew Stretavan ’28 and Miles Lee ’28 winning their singles matches. Yang earned his first career MIAC Athlete of the Week Award for his performance.
