<ast weekend, Carleton’s cross-country teams did not compete, but both squads will lace up their racing shoes tomorrow, with the women hosting the Running of the Cows and the men splitting their time between Oregon and the Crown College Invite.
The women’s team took the past week to get in three quality practices, some volunteering at a flood-damaged house, and a day off. The Knights had to rest their legs to get ready to display their power to their hometown fans.
Tomorrow is the Running of the Cows, a fun little meet. It’s kept small to avoid any stampeding, as cows are known to be susceptible to stampede in moments of excitement. Carleton will be hosting Concordia and St. Ben’s and traversing a 6k course in the Upper Arb, which was relatively undamaged by the flooding. Concordia knows all about flooding though, so they can surely deal with any flood-affected trails.
This will be the Knights’ last chance to fine-tune their race strategies before the conference championships, as well as a chance to have fun.
Everyone can join in the fun too! Following the collegiate race will be an open run on the same 6k course for anyone who is interested. The fun run is at 10:30 a.m. behind the Rec Center in the Upper Arb. The collegiate race begins at 10:00 a.m.
The men, meanwhile, have sent some of their squad west to Estacada, Ore. to compete in Lewis and Clark College’s Pioneer Open. The Knights still in the Midwest will head to St. Bonifacius, Minn. to compete at the Crown College Invite.
