<ta Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced its Fall 2018 Academic All-Conference honorees, with Carleton College student-athletes earning distinction 47 times.
Carleton’s award total was second-most among MIAC programs. That figure also represents a 34 percent increase over the previous year and is the most since the academic all-conference program adopted new standards prior to the 2005-06 season.
To qualify for recognition, student-athletes must be a sophomore, junior, or senior, with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale. To earn the MIAC’s academic all-conference award, student-athletes must meet athletic requirements in addition to the academic standard.
Athletically, student-athletes in fall team sports (football, volleyball, soccer) must compete in 50 percent of their team’s regular-season varsity contests. Cross country student-athletes are required to finish in the overall top 100 or their team’s top seven at the 2018 MIAC Cross Country Championship.
A total of 14 honors went to Knight seniors, 15 to juniors, and 18 to sophomores.
MIAC Academic All-Conference honors are announced twice annually, after the completion of the fall and spring academic semesters.
