Bartholomay and Elmore Named Academic All-District

<rleton College men’s soccer players Neil Bartholomay ‘14 and Trent Elmore ‘16 play alongside one another on the Knights’ backline. Both were named to the 2013 Academic All-District team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) for their strong performances on the field and in the classroom.

This marks the second time in as many years that the Knights had two players receive this recognition after Bartholomay and Simon Ginet ‘14 earned the honor last year. Ginet went on to be named a First Team Academic All-American in 2012 but was not eligible for the award this season after barely missing playing time limits at the time nominations were due.

Bartholomay, possesses a 3.45 grade-point average as a Political Science/International Relations major. On the field, he anchored the Knights defense the ended the regular season with a 0.63 goals against average, which ranked 24th in the nation. The senior is tied for second on the Knights’ roster and leads all MIAC defenders with five goals this season. He was named MIAC Player of the Week on September 30.

Elmore joins teammate Bartholomay on the list during his first season eligible for the recognition. On the field, Trent started 16 games for the Knights and was a valuable asset as the Knights limited the top 10 goal scorers in the MIAC to a combined total of only four goals. Elmore, an English major, has posted a strong 3.89 GPA during his time so far at Carleton. Both of his assists this season have given Carleton the lead.

Barthlolomay and Elmore represent two of the three MIAC men’s players voted to the Academic All-District team.
