Men’s Track and Field Victorious at Rolex Classic Against All Odds

<od luck needs no explanation.

While the Carleton College men’s track and field team won only two of the 17 events in this year’s Rolex Classic against St. Olaf College, the Knights claimed victory in the meet. As a tradition, at the end of the day, the teams pick a random event. The school that won that event wins the meet.

This year’s selection was the 800-meter run, an event in which the Knights took both first and second place. Noah Laack-Veeder ‘15 turned in a winning time of 1:55.93, trailed closely by Marcus Huderle ‘14, who finished in 1:56.32.
The other Carleton triumph came in the javelin, as Alex Polk ‘15 continued his impressive sophomore campaign with a throw 45 meters. He beat the next closest competitor by more than five meters to claim his first overall victory of the season.

The Knights will now prepare for the MIAC Championships, which will be held on May 10-11 at O’Shaughnessy Stadium at the University of St. Thomas campus.
