Women’s tennis defeats Bethel, 5-4

<rleton College women's tennis team won four of the six singles matches to secure a 5-4 victory over Bethel University. The Knights, ranked No. 15 in the Central Region, improved to 3-0 overall and in the conference. Hannah Clemons ’10 prevailed at second singles and teamed with senior Anna Decatur for a 8-2 triumph at second doubles.

The Knights needed to play well in singles after dropping two of the doubles matches. This was Carleton’s second victory of the weekend, having defeated the College of St. Catherine on Friday.

Frances Leung ’10 and Clemons dropped a combined five games while winning first and second singles.

Hannah Goldberg ’10 prevailed in three sets, and Devin Daugherty ’11 held off her opponent, 6-3 and 6-4 in her first action of 2008.

The Knights will be back in action today, Fri., February 22, when they face Luther College, the No. 9 team in the Central Region.
