Women’s basketball handled by Gustavus

<zouman ‘13 went 9-for-13 from the field and had a game-high 18 points, but the Carleton College women’s basketball team was unable to keep pace with Gustavus Adolphus College, falling 70-44.

Both teams shot sporadically from the field, with Carleton (2-15, 1-13 MIAC) making 39 percent of its shots, while the Gusties (15-2, 13-1 MIAC) converted 42 percent, but it was rebounding that proved to be the crucial factor in this game. Gustavus finished with 50-27 edge on the boards.

Carleton started slowly and trailed 28-8 with 6:21 remaining in the first half. The Knights got no closer than 13 points the balance of the contest.

Jenny Ramey ‘14 added nine points to the Carleton effort, and Skylar Tsutsui ‘15 chipped in eight points.

Four players reached double figures for Gustavus, which ran its win streak to 12 games.

Carleton next plays at home on Saturday, Jan. 28 against the College of St. Benedict. Live video will be available on Knights Online.
