<ring term always seems to fly by - especially when compared to the molasses pace of Minnesota winters. It being our senior year, there is a feeling of each event being our last: our last Rotblatt, our last Superhero Party, our last Spring Concert.
As our last midterm break is on the horizon, we want to take this chance to savor the next few days and appreciate it for what it’s meant to be: a break from the academics to explore other aspects of our lives that get pushed aside.
The latest issue of The Voice had a bucket list of things to do before graduating. Here is The Carletonian’s midterm break version:
– Plan a reunion with your freshman floor (not applicable to freshman; in fact, freshman should make an effort to not exclusively hang out with your floor this weekend).
– Support a Carleton athletic team.
– Always been a little curious about what your life would be like if you had gone to that state school and joined that sorority/fraternity? Attend Step It Up and Dance on Saturday night and witness the superior rhythm and dance moves. Can you imagine a Sayles dance where people actually knew how to dance?
– Read that leisure book you brought at the beginning of the year and always told yourself you’d get around to. Don’t have one? Purchase our future President, Steven Poskanzer’s book, Higher Education Law: The Faculty. Sounds riveting.
– Lay out on the Bald Spot; admire your tan afterwards. It’s not not there.
– This is your chance to break out of town. Whether it’s getting Chipotle in Burnsville or flying to Florida, enjoy life beyond the limits of Northfield.
– Sleep.
– Write a viewpoint for The Carletonian (good idea, Voice!)
Have a great midterm break!
