Men’s soccer goes 2-0 in Colorado

<ccer team travelled to Colorado Springs this past weekend for two important games against regional opponents at Colorado College. Despite several travel delays, the Knights came prepared for the weekend’s challenges.

On warm and sunny Saturday, the Knights faced Ripon College from Wisconsin. The Knights didn’t wait long to announce their arrival as Colorado native Brett Adleman ’10 dribbled past the Ripon goalkeeper just three minutes into the game. The Knights continued to apply pressure to the Ripon defense throughout the match and added four more goals by Ryan Cammarota ’12, Tim Wills ’12, Miles Silbert ’12, and Ryan Hafner ’12 in order to secure a 5-0 win.

“We were able to find some holes in their defense today. Soccer is a game of angles and our understanding of the game allowed us to exploit those angles”, said forward Ryan Hafner.

Although Sunday brought colder tempatures and heavy snowfall, the Knights continued to apply this understand of angles in route to a win against Colorado College. Colorado College struck first early in the game off of a free kick, but the Knights responded with a goal by Wes Elfman ’11 in the 33rd minute.

As the second half began, the Knights began to apply more pressure to the Colorado College defense and in the 52nd minute Adelman scored his second goal of the weekend. The Knights would reassure the win with a third and final goal in the 77th minute by Courtney Morris ’11.

The 3-1 victory brings the Knights’ overall record to 14-3 as the they head into their regular season finale next Saturday at St. Olaf at 1pm.
