Men’s Tennis Ends Fall Season

<m closed out their extensive three-week season last weekend with a strong showing at the Fall ITA Midwest Regional, held at Gustavus Adolphus College and various locations due to rain.

In singles, the Knights entered the tournament with three seeded players. Ben Guzick ’12 was seeded fifth, followed by Peter Dunn ’12 seeded eighth and Winston Park ’10 seeded 17th. All three broke seed, with Guzick advancing to the final of the tournament. He fell to top-seeded Mike Greenberg of Kenyon College. Dunn also lost to Greenberg in the quarterfinals when he had to withdraw due to injury, and Park made it to the round of 16.

In doubles, the tandem of Jon Aranda ‘12 and Paul Cooper ‘13 made it to the third round, while Guzick and Park lost in the quarterfinals.

The Knights also competed in the Fall Classic also at Gustavus, and between the two tournaments no Carleton singles player lost to a lower ranked player.

This marks the end of the fall tennis season. Play will resume with a double-header in Winona on January 30th. The Knights will look to radically improve upon last season having graduated only one player from the ‘08-’09 squad.
