<men’s Soccer team suffered a tough loss this past Wednesday to longtime rival Macalster. Despite dominating possession of the ball the Knights were unable to penetrate the Macalster defense.
Heavily dependent on the speed of their forwards the Scots capitalized on a long ball into the corner midway through the second half. The Knights battled back with ferocity, denying the Scots another opportunity at net. However, luck was not on the side of the Carleton women, and despite numerous dangerous opportunities in the final third of the game, the Knights were unable to put the ball away.
Regardless of the disappointing loss captain Merrit Swain ’11 emphasizes the Knights are still on the mend and are excited by the progress the group is making.
“We’ve had a ridiculous amount of injuries this year but we’re starting to get girls healthy and get back our rhythm,” Swain said.
A serious detriment to the Knights the last few weeks has been the absence of Leigh-Anne Borkowski ’11, a crucial member of the Knight’s back line. Borkowski made her first appearance back on the field against the Scots and made an immediate impact. Revamped with Borkowski back on board and several other players near recovery, the Knights will face Saint Benedict’s Saturday.
