<ast Wednesday the Carleton Women’s soccer team came out tenacious with a 2-0 victory against University of Wisconsin at Lacrosse.
Although not a conference match Wednesday’s win sent a strong message to the rest of the MIAC that although the Carleton women have faced a rough start to the season due to injuries, they remain a serious threat.
Captain Mia Zutz ’10 says of the Knights, “Our possession game was really on today and were only getting stronger.”
Goals for the Knight’s were executed magnificently by Cassie Burke ’12 and Linnea Carlson ’12. Burke’s goal came early on in the first half off a defense clearance from Captain Emma Dobbins ’10.
Soon after Carlson struck a volley into the back of the net off a brilliant cross from Zoe Suche ’13. In addition to the precision of the Knight’s offense the team was lead by a particularly impressive performance from goalkeeper Kate Trennary ’13 who was a powerhouse in the back picking of every ball that came her way.
The Knight’s next play at Hamline on Saturday and at Macalest next Wednesday.
