<f The Carletonian marks the beginning of the 2011-2012 school year and the arrival of the Class of 2015. Welcome new students!

Inside the following pages you will find useful background on Carleton culture and events, and survival tips that will guide you through these first few terms here in tropical Northfield. Hopefully by the time you finish reading, you’ll be all caught up.

You’ll also learn about relevant Carleton topics: where to eat, who to meet, and (obviously) why you should join The Carletonian.

These next few weeks will likely be slightly chaotic and overwhelming. But, to help you keep things in perspective, we offer three pieces of advice:

    1. Try new things and push yourself outside of your comfort zone. Challenge yourself to get involved in at least one activity you never participated in during high school.

    2. Make an effort to get to know your professors. It can be intimidating at first, but having close relationships with profs is one of the most unique aspects of Carleton life. If you’re lucky they might even invite you over to their house for homemade scones.

    3. For the love of god, please retire your shiny blue lanyards sometime before second week.

That should be enough to get you started.

    Best of luck and welcome!
