Guevin wins Academic All-District Award

<rleton’s righthanded pitcher Ethan Guevin was selected to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 5 second team. He went 3-5 with a 3.21 ERA, while ranking fifth in the conference with 47 strikeouts over 47.2 innings pitched. Guevin’s earned run average was fourth among MIAC hurlers with as many innings.

Guevin, a sociology and anthropology major with a concentration in education, possesses a 3.70 GPA.

The ace of the Knights’ pitching staff, he missed two and a half weeks with a hamstring injury, but upon returning to action, he notched 19 strikeouts and only three walks over 13.0 innings in a pair of starts. He led Carleton in wins, strikeouts and ERA for the third consecutive season.
Guevin was one of only three MIAC players to receive the Academic All-District award. He was joined on the second team by Augsburg designated hitter Bryan Ludwig. Saint john’s infielder John Heinbigner was named to the third team.

The ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District team is part of the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America program, administered by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) a 2,000-member organization consisting of sports public relations professionals for colleges and universities in the United States and Canada. The Academic All-America program annually honors over 1600 student-athletes who have succeeded at the highest level on the playing field and in the classroom.

Top student-athletes from non-Division I programs in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ontario and Manitoba are eligible for inclusion on the district team.
