<r the next few weeks, we will be exploring academic dishonesty at Carleton. The purpose of this feature is to engage the community in a dialogue about the issue and allow people to voice their opinions. In short: Academic Standing Committee records indicate that in the past 10 terms (i.e., fall 2007 through fall 2010) 70 different pieces of academic work [e.g., exams, papers] have been referred to the ASC for investigation and resolution.
As a result of these investigations, 51 students have been found responsible for violating Carleton’s standards for academic honesty over this period of time. In most situations the ASC provided a sanction of censure and warning or disciplinary probation. However, 5 students were suspended from the College for a specified period of time.
