<ofessor Abdi Kusow of Iowa State University came and delivered a talk entitled “Somali Immigrants in the United States: Conceptualizing Transnational Migration in a Stateless Global Context.” In the talk, Kusow elaborated on Somali identity in America and the process of creating a community in a new country.
The talk comes as Carleton is getting more involved in the Somali community. The Office of Academic Civic Engagement has become increasingly involved with programs dealing with the Somali community in Fairbault as three classes are currently interacting with local Somali-Americans.
