Caught in the ACT: Earth Day

<me continue the celebration of Earth Day this Saturday, April 24! The event will take place from 1-4:30 pm in Central Park (3rd and Winona, rain location: the Armory on Division Street).

The event is sponsored by Transition Northfield, a movement dedicated to engaging communities to move away from oil dependency. The Just Food Co-op, the Artech Charter School, and the ACT Center are also cosponsoring the event.

There will be plenty of local exhibitors at the event along with music, earth-friendly activities and games! Some of the exhibitors include: Green Architect Design, the Sustainable Farming Association, the Rice County Recycling and Solid Waste and the City of Northfield Energy Task Force and Environmental Quality Commission.

You will be able to enjoy music from the Northfield High School Band and Mexican Folkoric Dance from the Northfield Arts Guild.  There will be garden and compost information, and you can learn how to save energy dollars and help the earth! At 3:30 pm, there will be an opportunity to take a tour of a green renovated home at the Three Rivers Table. It will be a great way to learn about the efforts the Northfield community is taking in environmental issues.

So walk, bike, rollerblade, skateboard or scooter on over to the Earth Day Celebration this Saturday!
