No Fidelity: Carleton’s music journal and imprint

NoFi’s Winter 2022 issue cover

NoFi also runs a music imprint. Each term, a music release accompanies the magazine release, featuring a collection of songs made by students at Carleton. Last term’s NoFi imprint release features songs by four different student-run artists and bands—St. Nexu, Paranoid Fiction, Lele Beats and Solitary Wind Turbines—and the playlist can be found on Spotify with the playlist title “No Fidelity Presents NF008” or through the link on the NoFi Instagram bio (@no.fidel).

“No Fidelity is a long-running music magazine associated with Carleton’s college radio, KRLX FM 88.1. Commonly known as NoFi, the publication was revived by Nicole Collins ‘22 and Leander Cohen ‘22 in 2020 after a several year hiatus. Combining music, art and popular culture, the zine prints the tenth week of every academic term and features interviews, music essays, art and quality works produced and edited by Carleton College students. Last term’s publication featured works on artists including Connie Converse, Kate Bush and Steely Dan alongside general pieces like the one on ‘Dad Rock,’ showing the diversity of writing produced. The zine is open to submissions from all students passionate about music and requires no previous writing or musical experience. While the first meeting occurred during week two on Wednesday, April 7, students can still get involved and should reach out to editors Henry Holcomb ([email protected]) and Owen Roth ([email protected]).
