<arks ‘16, whose SUV was struck by a semi truck last winter killing three of his passengers, was charged with reckless driving April 10 in Dakota County District Court.
He was accused of driving too fast for the weather conditions on Highway 3, which was covered with packed snow and ice, based on a State Patrol report.
Sparks was seriously injured in the crash, which killed James Adams, Michael Goodgame and Paxton Harvieux.
Now he faces a misdemeanor charge. If convicted, he will spend up to 90 days in prison and pay up to $1,000 in penalties.
Sparks is currently on leave from Carleton, according to the online student directory. He did not respond to requests for comment.
