<ndout women’s golfer Katrina Wood ’09 is headed for a big trip down to sunny Waverly, Iowa for the Division III national championship after receiving one of the eleven individual bids nationally for the Big Dance.
Wood, who previously played for Bucknell University before transferring to Carleton last year, is the second golfer in the last two years to go to the NCAA tournament from Carleton. Kassie Wells ’07 represented Carleton at last year’s national tournament. Wood, who’s consistently been ranked in the top ten in the region, finishes the regular season with an 83.15 stroke average.
Wood’s selection to play in the national championship is another feather in the hat for a team who’s had unmatched success this year. The Knights, currently ranked 17th in the country in the last Division III poll, finished off the regular season with a fourth-place finish at the UW-Eau Claire Spring Invite.
Wood will play two practice rounds on May 11 and May 12 and then will play in the national championship on May 13-16.
