<emained unbeaten after an impressive defeat of St. Thomas University. The Knights are now 8-0 and 3-0 in MIAC competition. The Knights won 7-2, losing only in first singles and second doubles.
Brenden Cooper ’09 and Winston Park ’10 won both their singles and double matches. Park won third singles convincingly 6-1, 6-1 while Cooper won in straight sets as well 6-3, 6-0.Kartheek Koneru ‘08 and Vince Heguy ‘11 also had straight set victories in singles play.
Peter Varnum ’09 remained undefeated in singles competition this year by defeating Tyler Rice in three sets 3-6, 6-2, 7-6 (10-5). He is now 7-0 in singles action this year.
The first singles match was a close fought battle pitting Carleton’s Colin Russel ’10, ranked 11th in the region, against St. Thomas’ Arya Vayghan, the number 7th ranked player in the region. The match went to three sets before Vayghan won 10-7 in the third set tiebreaker.
The Knights will be in action today at 8 as they take on the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse at the Rochester Athletic Club.
