<rleton College women’s track and field team won three events at the 14-team Tommie Twilight meet hosted by St. Thomas. This was the final tune up for the Knights in advance of the MIAC Championships.
Ellie Wilson (Sr./Roseville, Minn./Roseville) won the 400-meter run with a time of 58.37, while Ruth Steinke (Jr./Lima, N.Y./Honeoye Falls-Lima) was first of 70 runners in the 1500-meter race, clocking a personal-best time of 4:35.91
Damali Britton (Fy./Phoenix, Ariz./Desert Vista) won the triple jump by more than a half meter with a measurement of 11.26 meters. Zoe Peterson (So./Bellingham, Wash./Squalicum) took third in the event after posting a mark of 10.51 meters. The duo also placed second and third—behind a competitor from the Division I program at the University of Minnesota—in the long jump as they measured personal-best leaps of 5.26 and 5.13 meters, respectively. Britton, who is already the team record holder in the triple jump, now ranks fourth all-time at Carleton in the long jump with Peterson moving into sixth place in the event.
Carleton’s entry in the 4×400 relay finished second at 3:57.98.
Other top-10 results for the Knights:
• Avery Johnson (Sr./Portland, Ore./Oregon Episcopal) placed sixth in the hammer throw at 38.47 meters and eighth in the javelin throw at 30.49 meters.
• Nicole Nipper (So./Minnetonka, Minn./Minnehaha Academy) finished ninth in the 1500-meter run at 4:46.85
• Caroline Campbell (Jr./Concord, Mass./Concord-Carlisle Regional) took ninth in the 800-meter run with a personal-best time of 2:17.38.
• Emma Grisanzio (So./Carol Stream, Ill./Wheaton North) was ninth in the 100-meter dash with a personal-best time of 12.80 that ranks her fourth in team history.
Carleton hosts the MIAC Heptathlon on April 30-May 1. The team then turns its attention to the conference championships on May 8-9.
