<r infielder Jenny Ramey and sophomore pitcher Keelin Davis were named to the 2014 MIAC Softball All-Conference Team. Earning All-MIAC honors is nothing new for these two Knights, as this is Ramey’s fourth straight All-MIAC award while Davis was named All-MIAC Honorable Mention in her rookie season. Junior infielder Micaela LaRose was also recognized by the conference, earning an All-MIAC Honorable Mention.
In her final season, Ramey started all 37 games and paced the Knights with a .341 on base percentage and 22 total runs. Ramey also tallied an outstanding 26 stolen bases in 27 attempts, which was the highest mark of any conference player for the second consecutive season..
Ramey has had an illustrious career as a Knight, as she began her career as MIAC Rookie-of-the-Year and has since earned three All-Conference awards and one All-MIAC honorable mention honor. To go along with her great numbers in conference play, Ramey has also made her mark in Carleton softball history adding to multiple season and career records. Ramey will graduate ranked first in career runs (124), stolen bases (92), on base percentage (.454), and total bases (258).
After a standout rookie season, Davis continued to put up big numbers for the Knights. On the mound, Davis led the conference with 133 strikeouts in 30 starts. Davis closed out the 2014 season with an impressive 2.75 ERA and was second in the MIAC with 5.99 strikeouts per game. Davis also helped the Knights at the plate, as she led the squad with 15 RBI. On the season, Davis tallied 12 total runs and boasted the second-best slugging percentage on the team.
LaRose picks up her first MIAC honor after pacing the Knights on offense this season, as she led the squad with a .327 batting average and a .439 slugging percentage. Her 10 doubles were the most of any Knight, and she ended the season with 13 RBI. LaRose’s play in the infield was nearly perfect and she led the Knights with a .983 fielding percentage. LaRose also picked up one save in her three appearances on the mound this season.
As part of a conference-wide sportsmanship initiative, the MIAC also announced the eighth annual All-MIAC Sportsmanship team for softball, with first-year Hailey Jones representing the Knights on the select list of student-athletes. Members of the All-MIAC Sportsmanship team are selected by their coaches and teammates as individuals who demonstrate ideals of positive sportsmanship both on and off the field of competition.
