Chelsey leads Knights Golf at Bobby Krig Invitational

<r the second time this season, Brian Chelsey ’13 was the top scorer for the men’s golf team, improving his score over each round of the Bobby Krig invitational to shoot an 83, a 79, and a 76 through three successive rounds at Le Sueur Country Club. Ultimately, he scored a 238, for a 26-over par finish in the 54-hole tournament.

Rookie Jorde Ranum also improved successively over each round, with his score dropping from 87 to 81, and then to 78. Both Chelsey and Ranum achieved their best scores yet of the 2011-2012 season. Evan Osbourne  ’13 also made his debut in the tournament, shooting a 79 on the first day. Ted Harrington also shot a 79, although that particular score came on the second day of the tournament.

Out of all 16 teams, host Gustavus Adolphus won the event, with a combined score of 866. Carleton posted a solid score of 976 in the tournament.

The Knights play in the St. John’s Invitational this weekend, located at St. Cloud Country Club and Mintocello Country Club.
