    CSA Weekly Press Release

    <an style="font-weight: bold">CSA Senate Weekly Update 2.16.2009
Senate exists to represent you! Here are some of the issues we tackled this week.

    Election Results
    • For President: McKay Duer
    • For Vice-President: Jinai Bharucha
    • For Treasurer: Sarah Duane
    • For Senator: Heather Yang, Moshe Lavi, Isaac Hodes, Eric Hitimana, and Khant Khant Kyaw
    • Thanks for voting! Turnout was the highest in years!

    How could registration be “greener”?
    • Currently the college wastes thousands of sheets of paper printing schedules.
    • Next year, the schedules may be available only in PDF format or in select locations.
    • The college may also decrease the number of bound academic catalogs.

What’s going on with the budget?
    • The Trustees have approved the budget for 2009-2010.
    • The endowment has decreased 20%, so future budgets must be more conservative than this year’s.
    • The college is brainstorming measures to save the college money. Some suggestions have been slowing the turnover for computer replacement on campus and decreasing travel expenditures for faculty and staff. If you have ideas or questions, email Vice President Rogers at [email protected] or visit Fridays with Fred!

What is the situation with next year’s meal plans?
    • The Board charge will be increased next year.
    • There will be no Block 130 meal plan.
    • Senate suggested that a reduced cost plan with fewer meals and dining dollars be offered.

What is the Campus Kitchen Project?
    • The project would give some of the leftover food from the dining halls to the Northfield community members in need.
    • Senate approved a resolution supporting the Campus Kitchen Project.

    How did elections go?
    • A large group of students and Senators discussed questions on the process of the CSA Elections – some students were upset with the role that editorials played in the election.
    • Senate unanimously voted to form an Elections Task Force that will review appropriate decorum, election timelines, campaign tactics, and media usage, among other things.
    • The Elections Task Force will meet Friday at 4pm in Hill Lounge – all are welcome!
