Men’s Track Takes Second at Norse Relays

<n six events, including three involving sophomore Colby Seyferth ‘15, and the Carleton College men’s track and field team finished second to host Luther College at the Norse Relays. The Knights finished with 127 points compared to 140 for Luther.

The Knights won four of the five relays, edging the hosts each time to grab the top spot in the 4×400, 4×800, 4×1600, and sprint medley competitions.

C.J. Dale ‘13, Ben Hiskes ‘16, Arnaud Kpachavi ‘15, and Seyferth won the 4×400-meter relay at 3:24.32.
Marcus Huderle ‘14, Jonah Barry ‘16, and brothers Noah Laack-Veeder ‘15 and Thor Laack-Veeder ‘15  won the 4×800-meter relay in 8:01.30.

Hudele and Barry were joined by Bobby Davis ‘13  and Jacob Hoerger ‘14 on the 4×1600-meter relay, as that quartet posted a time of 17:47.15.

Seyferth, Garo Anguiano-Sainz ‘15, Kpachavi, and Noah Laack-Veeder, prevailed in the 1600-meter spring medley. Seyferth and Sainz ran the 200-meter legs, with Kpachavi taking the baton for the 400-meter segment, with Laack-Veeder anchoring the 800-meter leg for a time of 3:33.18.

The two individual victories on this day came from Seyferth, who won the 400-meter hurdles with a career-best time of 56.38,  and Evan McNeil  ‘15, who won the pole vault as he cleared the bar at 4.16 meters (13 feet, 7.75 inches). McNeil also had career-bests in both the 110-meter hurdles and the javelin. Seyferth also finished second in the javelin throw at 41.74 meters (136 feet, 11 inches).

The Knights will host their lone home meet of the spring season, the Carleton Relays, on Saturday, April 20. Racing begins at 9:30 a.m. with field events starting at 10:00 a.m.
