Every year, one of the largest and most popular events that takes place at Carleton is the Spring Concert, otherwise known as “Sproncert.” Towards the end of Spring Term, the Student Activities Programming Board (SAPB), with the support of the Student Activities Office (SAO), puts on a music festival for students— free of charge. The school has hosted a variety of nationally-known and local artists from different genres of music, such as Aminé, Smash Mouth and iLLism. Carleton student bands and DJs have also performed incredible sets for students annually.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, however, SAPB has been unable to organize Sproncert for the past two years. As a result, the majority of Carleton students have not experienced the event, aside from the current senior class. This brings a number of both advantages and disadvantages. On one hand, many students have little to no reference as to what the Carleton tradition entails. On the other hand, students have the rare opportunity to transform Sproncert into a new and improved event. The course of the pandemic brings many uncertainties, unfortunately, but this year, SAPB is optimistic about the possibility of hosting Sproncert once again. Therefore, the Music and Dance programming assistants from SAPB are incredibly excited to announce that applications to join the Sproncert Committee are officially open to all students at Carleton! SAPB invites students from every year to apply, as student power is what makes this spectacular event possible.
The magnitude of Sproncert requires a significant amount of planning, creativity, and student input in order to create an exciting and memorable experience for all students. The concert is planned primarily by a student-led board; it cannot be emphasized enough how integral students are to the planning process of this event. SAPB is looking for creative, flexible, and enthusiastic individuals coming from a wide variety of experiences to join our team in order to make Sproncert 2022 a success.
If you are interested in applying to be a part of the Sproncert Committee, please fill out the application form titled “Spring Concert Committee Application” on Presence by February 2nd.
