The public is invited to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Trumpeter Swan Restoration Project in Minnesota. Learn the details of the trumpeter swan’s story and how their comeback applies to ongoing wildlife management efforts. Carrol Henderson, Supervisor of Minnesota’s Nongame Wildlife Program, will speak on Tuesday, April 17 at 7:00 pm at Carleton College’s Alumni Guest House Meeting Room, located at 100 South College Street in Northfield.
Annual Drag Show and Panel this Friday, moved to Cowling
Celebrate Pride Month this Friday with Carleton’s Fifth Annual Drag Show, featuring a troupe of seven drag queens and kings from the Twin Cities! The panel will give students an opportunity to hear the personal stories of and ask questions to the drag performers, as well as hearing each performer’s understanding of drag and gender. The show will be a great opportunity to dance! On Friday, join the troupe for discussion at 5pm in the Great Hall, then head over to Cowling for the Drag Show at 8pm. This event is free and open to the public.
Student Film Society Continues at Carleton College
The Carleton Film Society, a student-run organization that promotes arthhouse film, will continue its weekly public screenings on Saturday evenings at 7 p.m. in the Weitz Center for Creativity Cinema. Each film is preceded by an introduction from a Carleton professor or other guest speaker, and student-led discussion follow the screenings. Screening are free and open to the public.
Carleton Joins in World Book Night
Carleton will join hundreds of people in 5,000 cities and towns across the nation to distribute free books to those in need as part of World Book Night on April 23. The Carleton College Bookstore will serve as the Northfield distribution center — and three members of the Carleton community will participate as book donors: the Bookstore’s trade book manager Tripp Ryder along with students Elena Levi ’12 and Nicole Rhodes ‘14. World Book Night is a nationwide effort to encourage reading by giving away half a million free books to those with limited access to books. Donors are encouraged to select titles which have personally touched them, and which will help to foster a love of reading in those who receive the books.
