<me of the questions CSA tackled this week.
How can CSA work to decrease sexual violence on campus?
* Senate discussed ways to raise awareness of the issue on campus.
* There will be a panel with all the deans who handle the formal complaints.
* The Committee on Student Life is revising the Community Standards with a lawyer.
McMurtry pointed out that facilities washed away the “rape” chalkings. What are students allowed to say on campus? How is the decision made that something is inappropriate?
* Baggot and Vendell explained that the chalkings/posters were removed because they were “anonymous harassment.”
* There are standards about what can be said in the Speech Code, page 7 of the Lagniappi.
* Ritter said the rules should be more clearly defined. Barclay and Kenney disagreed, they said the decision should be dealt with on an individual basis.
How can CSA connect better with students? How can it be more transparent?
*CSA passed a resolution calling for it to be an “example of fairness, transparency and accountability.”
*CSA Working Groups and Committees will be required to provide public reports of what they are working on.
*The CSA President will give a “State of the Carleton Student Association” address once per term.
