<er usual, Stevie P has been quite busy this past week. Last week, he had his “routine meetings with vice presidents, student office hours” (which are open to all students, by the way), “and meetings with academic department chairs to speak with them about the upcoming strategic planning process.” These meetings were geared towards keeping the departments organized and help analyze the current courses offered, as well as analyzing the system of each department.
In addition to his routine weekly meetings, President Poskanzer also traveled to Omaha “to celebrate the induction of Wally Weitz ’70 into the Omaha Business Hall of Fame”. Weitz is a Carleton parent, trustee and very generous donor; the Weitz Center for Creativity has been named after the family.
Upon returning to the wilderness, Stevie P met with the “Parecnts Advisory Council on campus, greeted accepted students, and joined a discussion with Louis Menand, the convocation speaker”. (Menand is a writer for the New Yorker and Harvard professor, and gave a speech on the importance of having a liberal arts education.) President Poskanzer also went to brunch at Dacie Moses House, and wished to practice with the lacrosse teams, but unfortunately due to bad weather, was unable to. “He watched a little of the Women’s game but will need to connect another time to practice with them,” states his secretary, Elise Eslinger.
Finally, he’s been “engaging with next steps in the search for a next Vice President for External Relations and is traveling to see some Carleton supporters.”
