<old wind and rain did not stop hundreds of Carleton students from trekking over to the Grand last Friday, April 22 to support their peers in the annual event Battle of the Bands.
First place went to the band Ova Yonder, with members Matthew Adams ’13, Ebuka Amaefuna ’12, Zachary Baquet ’13, David Kornfield ’11, Ray McGaughey ’11, Reid McMurry ’13, David McNeil ’13, Hai Nguyen ’13, and Matthew Rathkey ’13.
Second place went to Throwin’ Bones, with members Jack Frechette ’11, David Tullis ’12, Will Tynan ’11, and Jerry McIntyre ’11.
A total of ten student bands performed for twenty-minute sets in the packed venue, competing for the coveted first and second place spots. Both winning bands will open for Spring Concert.
The bands were judged by a seven-member panel, consisting of four students and three faculty judges: Dean of Students Hudlin Wagner, Professor Jason Decker, and Web Writer Doug Bratland. All judges were chosen based on their interest and skills in music. The event was hosted by the SAO.
