<t a great year it has been for volunteering and the ACT Center! 34 ongoing programs have given over 9,000 volunteer hours to the greater Northfield community! In addition, we have had some amazing events this year from Into the Arb to our Civic Engagement Series on Food to Cuts for Cancer.
This past Tuesday the ACT Center hosted the annual Community Partner Appreciation Lunch as a thank you to the people in the community who have been kind enough to host Carleton students in volunteer programs at their sites. The lunch also served to thank the volunteer Program Directors, student leaders who organize and coordinate the 34 ongoing programs ACT offers. A special thanks went out to our senior Program Directors.
Coming up this Saturday is one of the last ACT events for the year, Scrub for HOPE! From 11a.m. to 3p.m. the ACT Center will be sponsoring a car wash at the parking lot of Econo. The car washers will be none other than the famed and popular Ebony Mandance participants. The men will be raising money for the HOPE Center. The Hope Center supports survivors of sexual, domestic, and child abuse by empowering them and giving hope for a life free from violence, and a life in which they can be free to fulfill their potential. So come bring your car or bike and support the ACT Center and the HOPE Center and watch your favorite mandancer get sudsy! Suggested donation is $10.
If you have volunteered this year with ACT come to the Great Hall on Monday, May 31 for some ice cream as a thank you! Also, vote for your favorite ACT photo. The winner will get a cheese gift basket valued at over $75!
Thank you to all our great volunteers! Your efforts really make a difference in Northfield! Have a great summer and we hope to see you again next year!
