<bert L. Gale ‘48, Trustee Emeritus and previous Vice President of the Public Relations and Development for Carleton College passed away September 29 at the age of 83.
Gale first served as a Carleton Alumni Trustee from 1970-74, and then became a Full Trustee from 1975-2002. In addition to his duties on Carleton’s board, Gale served as the president of the Association of the Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges, and held that position until 1992.
Before serving the College, Gale worked as a journalist.He served as the Editor-in-chief of Maco Magazine Corporation.He also worked for the Peace Corps and established his own consulting firm, Gale Associates.
For all of his work and dedication to the college, Gale has been awarded the Alumni Exceptional Service Award, the Alumni Distinguished Achievement Award, and the Donald J. Cowling Cup.
Gale’s contibutions to the Carleton community have been numerous, and he will surely be missed.
